A psychoeducational assessment can be helpful for individuals who are experiencing difficulties related to learning and/or attention. These difficulties may be affecting their performance at school, home, or work, and they are in need of extra help or accommodations in order to reach their full potential. Assessments may be completed with children ages 7 and up, adolescents, and adults.
The assessment is done in the clinic, and involves a number of tasks, activities, and questionnaires. The client should expect approximately 4 to 5 hours of testing in the clinic (this may be done over one or two sessions), in addition to a separate intake session (90 minutes). Results of the assessment provide a thorough understanding of strengths, weaknesses, and areas in need of further exploration. The client will be provided with a comprehensive assessment report, which will include any diagnoses that have been identified (e.g., Specific Learning Disorder, ADHD, or Intellectual Disability). Recommendations for academic development, mental health and wellbeing, and possible treatment options will be provided.
