Psychoeducational Assessments
Assessments for ADHD, intellectual disabilities, and learning disorders for children, youth, and adults. We also complete Autism assessments. Please contact us for more information.
A psychoeducational assessment can be helpful for individuals who are experiencing difficulties related to learning and/or attention. These difficulties may be affecting their performance at school, home, or work, and they are in need of extra help or accommodations in order to reach their full potential. Assessments may be completed with children ages 7 and up, adolescents, and adults. Autism assessments can be completed from age 2.5 years to 18 years.
The assessment is done in the clinic, and involves a number of tasks, activities, and questionnaires. The client should expect approximately 4 to 5 hours of testing in the clinic (this may be done over one or two sessions), in addition to a separate intake session (90 minutes). Results of the assessment provide a thorough understanding of strengths, weaknesses, and areas in need of further exploration. The client will be provided with a comprehensive assessment report, which will include any diagnoses that have been identified (e.g., Specific Learning Disorder, ADHD, or Intellectual Disability). Recommendations for academic development, mental health and wellbeing, and possible treatment options will be provided.
Psychoeducational assessments aren’t just for children! Adults may benefit from an assessment in order to obtain support and accommodations in the workplace or post-secondary school setting.
If you suspect you have a learning or attention problem, a psychoeducational assessment can identify your specific strengths and areas of need, and can determine whether you meet criteria for Specific Learning Disorder, ADHD, or Intellectual Disability. If you have a previous diagnosis (e.g., from childhood), an updated assessment will be necessary to obtain support and accommodations in the post-secondary setting.
Finally, an assessment can provide answers to questions you have been curious about your whole life. Have you ever wondered why it takes you twice as long as your peers to complete a writing assignment, why you have to reread information multiple times before you fully understand it, or why you can’t seem to focus on one task long enough to complete it? If this sounds like you, a psychoeducational assessment might be just what you need.

A Wildflowers’ Autism assessment includes both a registered psychologist and a registered speech-language pathologist. Although a registered psychologist provides the diagnosis, a speech-language pathologist assists with the assessment.
All information is reviewed during your results appointment as well as in your written report you will receive.
If you were to receive an assessment through the public sector at Child and Youth Services with the Saskatchewan Health Authority a psychologist and speech-language pathologist completes the assessments together as well. It’s the gold standard for Autism assessments.
All professionals involved have been formally trained in using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (a.k.a ADOS). This again is the gold standard to use when assessing for Autism.
We are here for you to walk through the Autism assessment process. We invite you to inquire to learn more.
You will receive the quickest response from us by completing this form. Check your junk mail for a response as well. Some families tell us our messages end up there.
